ICC Theatre Program presents R-rated “Spooky Dog”

       Illinois Central College’s Theatre Program will present Spooky Dog and the Teen-Age Gang Mysteries – an irreverent parody of Saturday morning cartoons for adults only – on Friday, November 9 through Sunday, November 18, in the Performing Arts Center Studio Theatre on the East Peoria campus.
       The play is a semi-improvised show with audience participation that is geared toward adults who grew up on Saturday morning cartoons. It is rated R for mature themes and adult language. The plot revolves around the disappearance of a pop culture icon (whose identity is decided by the audience) from a performance at the Creepola County County Fair. Coming to the rescue is a courageous and familiar gang of teen sleuths – a blond frat boy (played by Logan Henderson of Normal), a brainy gal with a trusty flashlight (played by Meghan Bordeaux of Peoria), a ditzy diva in a miniskirt (played by Emma Luttrell of Washington), a scruffy slacker hippie (played by Jacob Uhlman of Morton) and a talking dog (played by Cody Cornwell of Pekin).
       On a campy and comical quest to find their missing friend, they’ll face the ghost of a dead country singer, a not-so-psychic fortune teller (played by Maggie Hemmele of Washington) and the sinister couple who run the fairgrounds (played by Maggie Hemmele of Washington and Dusty Bredeman of Chillicothe). Even more shockingly, the gang will confront their own budding sexual desires, consume tasty dog treats with unexpected side effects, and break out into spontaneous musical numbers.
       The play is written by Eric Pliner and Amy Rhodes and is directed by Alan Walker.
       Show times are 2:30 pm Sunday, and Tuesday through Saturday at 7:30 pm. There will be no performance Monday, November 12. Admission is $7 ($5 for students and seniors). Tickets may be purchased online by clicking here for will call pick up.
