Illinois Central College (ICC) may collect information through its website that may become public record and thus subject to disclosure under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act. However, it is the policy of the State of Illinois that any personal information you provide, including but not limited to your name, address, telephone number, driver’s license number, Social Security Number, and email address, will not be sold or rented to any entity or individual or disclosed to unauthorized entities or individuals. The release of personal information is limited, according to Illinois law, to Illinois state government agencies and/or authorized Department contractors or grantees.

Personal Information and Choice

“Personal information” refers to data that can readily identify an individual, such as an individual’s name, address, phone number, driver’s license number, and Social Security Number. It does not include domain names or Internet Protocol addresses. We collect no personal information about you unless you voluntarily provide it by participating in activities such as sending an email, participating in a survey, or registering for a class. Choosing not to participate in these activities will not affect your ability to use other features of the ICC website. State law and the federal Privacy Act of 1974 may protect personal information requested or volunteered. However, once provided, this information may become a public record subject to inspection and copying unless protected by federal or state law.

Opting Out of SMS Messaging

You have the right to opt out of receiving SMS messages from us at any time. If you wish to stop receiving these messages, you can opt out by following the instructions provided in the SMS message, typically by replying with “STOP” or a similar keyword. You may also contact our customer service team to request removal from our SMS messaging list. Please note that opting out of SMS messages does not affect your ability to receive important account-related communications via other methods.

Policies for Individuals Under 13 Years of Age

ICC is committed to complying with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. If you are under 13, you are not authorized to provide us with personally identifying information, and we will not use such information in our database or data collection activities. Information provided by children will be treated as if it were provided by an adult and may be subject to public access.

Information Retained and Usage

When you visit the ICC website, if you only browse or download information, the following data will be retained:

  1. Internet Protocol (IP) address: Unique IP addresses are counted to determine visitor numbers to each webpage during specific periods, which helps in webpage delivery decisions.
  2. Type of web browser used: Knowing the browser type helps ensure web pages are accessible and correctly displayed.

Correspondence

If you participate in a survey or send an email during your visit to the ICC website, additional information collected includes:

  1. Email correspondence: We collect your email address and the content of your email to respond appropriately, improve our website, or forward your email to another agency for appropriate action.
  2. Surveys: We collect any information you provide in response to a survey, used for the survey’s designated purpose. This can include text, audio, video, and graphic information.
